japan trip #3
day 6 (yoshikami, shimokitazawa)
- met up with friendo and went to yoshikami, the restaurant in asakusa that i own...ok i don't own it but it is real and it is very good
- the fries were Drenched in butter, and the milkshake was a mikshake but with melted milkshake texture
- marry me beef stew
- took a pitstop at an extremely instagrammy trendy drink/dessert place i was curious about, where a ton of cutesy twee-y girls line up every day (was right outside my hotel)
- when we went in, soft aloof tumblr boys were serving the drinks and immediately we went "ahh ok"
- finally we went to shimokitazawa which is a somewhat-hipster fashion district with a ton of thrift shopping
- i love this place so much
- the vibe and energy, somehow has both extremely cheap clothes and extremely designer clothes, sometimes in the same shop like what
- we ended at an izakaya that only serves lamb called "lambda" which is hilarious, and a lovely hidden 3rd floor cafe that had an amazing cream soda float
day 7 (broadway, akiba)
- met up with maddievision WOO
- we went to a sushi place: 16 extremely good pieces of sushi for $21 genuinely insane???
- walked around nakano broadway, a big ol shopping mall with a bunch of stuff and things
- a lot of watch stores, a cool retro anime shop with light up floors, and a place that sells cels
- then we went to akihabara, which...is akihabara but it was a great great time
- ate suuuuuuuuper good yakuniku, very uh...self-sufficient place, but we figured it out (more on this later)
- arcaaaaaade
- we played mahjong battle with 3 second timers
- actually got to play ddr world, why did they do that to the song select, also the vibe is great
day 8 (rest)
- the day before, i was reeeeeally starting to feel fatigue, physically especially, so had to take today to recover my body a bit
- had planned on getting a massage but the guy forgot so uh, yup that's rescheduled
- also had a lot of time to think, about everything. bunch of complicated thoughts and feelings, but i think the strongest takeaway is that i'm not supposed to know what i'm doing, and i'd rather figure things out with people, and i think that's the point of everything actually
looking forward to tomorrow + more
