annecy 2025 trip #3
day 6: fri (final active day)
- it was The hottest day, so we decided to go out to the lake
- rented a pedalboat and went swimming, cold as fuck but my god how refreshing
- had a cordon bleu for the first time, really good and unusually light for a fried chicken dish
- chilled out at my place and went to see another world which was so good!!! (https://boxd.it/9ZGUy9)
- afterwards, went to cafe des arte and hung out there for 3 hours
- realizing, talking to people doesn't need to be scary i think. yeah sure it's a very specific environment where everyone's more open in general, but god how free is it to just be who you are joyfully and unapologetically
- would love to practice that
day 7: sat (chill hangout)
- so by this point a lot of people head out early, so it's more relaxed in general
- we watched memory hotel, which was extremely...divisive, spoiler alert i liked it, jeff HAAAATED it lmao (https://boxd.it/a0o9qF)
- packed up and had one final dinner with friends
- we did a lil show and tell of all our work and it was very cute!!
- 3 hours of sleep
day 8: sun (travel dayyy)
- bLEGHGEKGHJ I'M FUCKING TIRED
- we take a train and do airplane and do another airplane
- i get back to LA and arrive back home at drumroll 11pm
- i have never felt more at peace than i have flopping onto my bed in my air conditioned room
- slept good, like GOOD
some misc thoughts
- my god there are so many hot fit people in france, it is somehow terrifying yet extremely motivating
- ice cream is big there, and holy shit the texture is just absolutely perfect
- there are cute lil traditions at screenings, like throwing paper airplanes onto the stage and making pop mouth noises while waiting for a movie to start
- the sun doesn't go down until like 9??? holy shit??????
final thoughts
- this trip was particularly special and important to me in a bunch of different ways, but mainly a reminder of where i'm at and what directions i want to head in
- in terms of the social aspect, there's this natural open authenticity and confidence that i haven't felt in touch with for a long time, and i'm glad i can recognize how isolating just doesn't serve me in the same ways it used to
- in terms of the professional aspect, i'm adjusting course to forge some new experimental avenues and skills beyond the one-minded game composition path, and there's risk and potential embarrassment but that's the way forward to a career i believe in
- in terms of physical, i wanna be hotter like the people in france lmao, so just gotta keep doing what i'm doing and we'll get there
- anyway, i'm absolutely going next year, it's a very special place and i know next time is gonna be even better with familiarity
- ok that's enough writing, i would definitely like to use this more often for random stuff, so yeah look forward to more stuff and things tyyyyy~
