annecy 2025 trip #2
day 3: tues (big events and stuff)
- had fromage blanc with pain au chocolat, so simple but if i lived here this would be The Breakfast Every Day
- had a good chat with jeff about this festival being a mirror, in the sense that it subtly reveals where you're at in your life and forces you to confront it...which is incredibly terrifying and valuable
- went to the farmers market, got some cheese, some strawberries and cherries, and TONS of loose leaf tea and spices/seasonings
- went to a cartoon network panel with genndy tartakovsky, craig mccracken, pendleton ward, rebecca sugar, jg quintel, adam muto, holy shit holy fuck how did i get into this
- made friends with the people next to me yayyy
- then went to wtf2025, a late night block with crazy edgy shorts
- it was cool, i LOVED one of them oh my god it's called desk bugs (https://boxd.it/9XWhSt)
- hung out with jeff's airbnb roomies and wow talking to people is fun i forgot about that
- now at this point, i'm seeing all the LA protests and wow holy fuck what a time to not be in LA, very bizarre out of body experience and really hoping people are keeping safe as they're fighting some fucked bullshit
day 4: wed (picnic!)
- saw arco while we were very very very tired
- great movie! super solid and it deserves to be a hit when it releases
- chilled out for a bit, my place is convenient but up a STEEP hill so it's the ultimate cardio blghhhhh
- had raclette fondue which was insane
- out on the main grassy patch, the festival held a screening of flow
- we had a lil evening picnic with old and new friends, ate some strawberries and cherries and three different types of cheeses (farmers market cough)
- it was unbelievably lovely and special and my favorite night so far
day 5: thurs (more movie)
- slept in a bit cause i needed it!!! (it was not enough but you know)
- was planning on waiting in line for a 1pm screening of the last blossom, but it was already super full an hour beforehand
- i get bummed and wait in line for a nearby bagel place, BUT as a last resort i go to the website and refresh in hopes of grabbing a last-minute reservation and I GET IN RANDOMLY, so that's the hack i guess
- good movie lol
- went back, took a loooong nap and then had puff pastry escargot and cafe de paris rib-eye, it was TERRIBLE just kidding it was insanely delicious
- watched all you need is kill, and it was clear everyone at this point loosened up, which thank god, everyone get loosey goosey!!!
- the movie was ok, bummer (https://boxd.it/9ZuXOF)
- on the way back home i saw WILD HEDGEHOGS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
